Hygienic SMS Unions

The SMS (Swedish Milk Standard) union is one of the most popular hygienic fittings globally due to its compact, low-profile design. It features a round slotted nut and a flat L-style gasket, creating a smooth internal bore suitable for CIP (Clean-in-Place).

Because it requires very little space to engage the threads, it is ideal for tight manifold configurations. While common in Europe, it uses its own metric-based sizing, making it incompatible with RJT or IDF parts.

Unlike the heavy Acme or Whitworth threads of British standards, the SMS union uses a fine-pitch thread and a distinctive round nut.
